Irritating cough, Help I’m getting restless..?

My dad has this cough that acts up alot at night and it’s annoying. During the day he hardly even coughs, we tell him to get himself to the doctor but you know how that goes, they get stubborn. Any remedies that will help him or a good over the counter meds to help him sleep and take the cough away?? We are losing sleep over this annoying cough so if anyone could help we would be very grateful…….

Well, there are plenty of cough remedies…he may also have acid reflux where things back up when he lays down. So, you could slip him some cough drops and a Prevacid! Raising the head of his bed may also help.

Why do some household garbage cans come with those usless and irritating steel handles or whatever over the?

can? have you noticed this? the great ingenuity of whatevr companies make garbage cans these days have decided to put a usless and irritating handle right over and in the middle of the top of the can. like wtf??? in what way is that supposed to be useful and not a pain in the ass?

Sore, irritating dry throat and a harsh cough…?

Today, I randomly woke up with a very sore, irritated and dry throat, as well as a harsh cough. What is wrong with me? Do I have a cold or the flu?

Aw, you probably have a cold. Try to pick up some medicine next time you visit the chemist. If your throat continues to stay sore and irritable over the next few days, consider seeing your doctor.

Hopefully this is only a temporary cold. Make sure you keep an eye on yourself - if you start showing symptoms of more serious viruses of infections then seek medication or medical assistance quickly.

In the mean time, make sure that you eat lots of healthy foods and drink plenty of water. Get lots of rest and sleep long hours during the night. Find activities such as watching movies, reading, drawing, etc to distract you from your symptoms. It’s the basic rule - rest and try to enjoy life as much as you can, regardless of how crappy you’re feeling.

Anything to help a child’s irritating night cough?

Hi, my 4 year old has an irritating, dry night cough that is keeping her (and me) awake. Plus when she coughs too much she ends up being sick from over gagging.

I’m looking for any tried and tested remedies whether they are pharmaceutical, herbal or home remedies! Please, anything that works or has worked for you that a 4 year old can take.

Also any tips? Warm bedroom best or cool bedroom best? Etc, etc

Good air circulation may help, like having a window slightly open on the child catch. A teaspoon of glycerin will help coat his/her throat and ease the tickle a bit, but if you don’t have glycerin to hand you can try a teaspoon of honey or golden syrup, something like that.

Rubbing a bit of vick vapour rub on his/her collar area might also help.

I had my flu jab last thursday and ever since i have had a cold and cough.
I have tried a couple of cough mixtures and vicks vapour rub but none have worked.
Its mostly at night when im trying to sleep i cough like mad.

You need to see a doctor……having the couph that long, you could have bronchitis

Problem with my throat after exposure to smoke from fire in my flat?

On sunday night there was a fire in my flat and me and a couple of my friends tried to put it out whilst it was still fairly small which meant we were in the thick black smoke for a minute or so. For the past 2 days i’ve had a sore throat, pain when swallowing and a cough, is this just an irritated throat which will pass or something more serious?

Ι think it’s better seeing a doctor in person to answer this kind of questions

Gargling salt water for irritated throat?

My throat is irritated and I just started gargling salt water because I know that’s supposed to help. But how often should you do it in a day and when you do gargle, how long should you do it before spitting it out?

I’ve done this for many years.
First, gargling as often as possible is the best. You can tell because your throat will feel much better if you are doing it right.
Second, make sure the water is as warm as possible. Don’t make it crazy salty, just a couple of spoon fuels for a small glass. It should burn when it hits the sire throat, or nit enough salt.
The most important part is the most difficult. Most people just gargle it in there mouth and down there throat a little. But that does not get the saltwater where it needs to be. You need to hold your head back, and start gargling. As you do, let it go farther and farther down your throat. It will take practice! You will know when you have it in the right area because when the salt hits it, it will burn, and usually cause you to choke a little and spit it out. But you’ll know you found the target! Do it again. Do it again. If you do it correctly, and get that salt water way down there where it’s sore, it will burn and feel much better after you are done gargling. If you don’t learn this, gargling salt water will do nothing for your throat. YOU’LL always KNOW, because it burns when you get the salt on the sore! Practice this and you won’t believe the relief! But be ready to lighting fast spit in the sink, because while your learning, it chokes you a little, especially the first time you actually get that salt water, right on the sore in your throat. Keep practicing until you can get it down there! The salt cleans all the gunk off thats been draing down your throat and causing it to become sore!

My dog keeps licking and irritating a section of skin on her front leg. Whats wrong?

I have a red, 3 year-old German Shepherd /Chow mix and she keeps licking and irritating a section of skin on her front leg. It’s been 2-3 weeks since I’ve given her a bath so should I give her another one or is there a medicine I can buy?

sounds like a hot spot to me.

if you go to a local pet store.. they sell hot spot sprays and ointments.. look for one that is not alcohol based and has hydrocortisone as an ingredient.

you should wait normally 4 to 6 weeks to bathe a dog.. their coat produces natural oils that help protect their skin.. excess bathing can dry out their skin

this could also be the outcry of an allergy.. food allergies can present themselves in many different ways.. ear infections, dry skin, itchiness, flaking.. depending on what type of food you are feeding (if it has grain, corn, wheat, soy, and chicken as ingredients) you might want to consider switching.

i feed my dogs natural balance potato and duck.. it is grain, corn, wheat, and soy free (my bulldog is allergic to grain.. found out from an ear infection).. you want to look for proteins such as duck, venison, bison, and fish.. these proteins are not normally found in dog food (unlike chicken which is in everything) and will most likely be the safest for your dog.
